Laptop Settings - Quick Start Guide

Quick settings guide for PC, MAC, and Chrome laptops: Sound and Display.

Tablet/iPad

IMS does not provide desktop or tablet/iPad support. We do not recommend and cannot guarantee tablet/iPad compatibility with our in-room technology systems. To ensure reliability anywhere on campus, we recommend checking out a Mac or PC laptop for the semester at sjsu.edu/equipmentcheckout. In order for your device to function with our in-room technology, please double-check your resolution settings and ensure you know how to navigate the device settings for your device.

Scroll down and click on "Advanced display settings."
Click on "Display adapter properties for Display 2" (your external projector/monitor).
Under the "Adapter" tab, click on "List All Modes" and select  1280x#### resolution if available.

Mac (and newer laptops):
For optimal display on older classroom projectors, we recommend using the VGA connection (with a usb-c to VGA adapter) instead of HDMI. This usually immediately resolves resolution and display issues that may occur with HDMI.
