Change of Major Requirements

Change of major requirements are subject to change without notice between academic years.

We recommend students review the Change of Major Requirements (Informational Packet) every semester to verify eligibility before enrolling in any coursework aligning with change of major requirements or submitting an application. Access to the requirements is limited to active SJSU student Google accounts.

It is your responsibility, as the student, to stay engaged with change of major materials and resources every semester.

College of Science Advising Hold and Change of Major Protocol

For hold removal, College of Science students pursuing a change of major must complete the “Change Major Interest Google Form” to share or confirm their inerest in a change of major. This form must be submitted every semester for College of Science Advising hold removal until they have successfully been accepted to the new major.

Students on Progress Notice are subject to disqualification in the major. See the College of Science Academic Notice policy [pdf] for more information.

Application Process

After evaluating your eligibility based on current admission criteria, submit your application by the appropriate deadline to the College of Science. Submitting a Change of Major Application does not automatically result in admittance to the major.

If you have questions about your submitted change of major application, email the College of Science Academic Programs support unit at science-academicprograms@sjsu.edu.
